IMS Physical Therapy Delta

Not every pain has an obvious or identifiable cause.  My ofascial pain, or Neuropathic pain refer to chronic pain symptoms for which there is so identifiable sign of injury, or inflammation.  This type of pain is triggered when nerves become extremely sensitive in response to some type of minor irritation, causing harmless signals to be misinterpreted as painful sensations.  These over-sensitized nerves cause muscle spasms and contracture, leading to tender and shortened muscles.  Patients suffering from neuropathic pain experience these symptoms, even though medical tests do not reveal any physical issue.

What is IMS?

IMS is a highly effective treatment for neuropathic pain, based upon scientific neurophysiological principles, but using needles adapted from traditional acupuncture. These fine needles are inserted where muscles have shortened, or contracted, stimulating the muscles to heal and relax.

Neuropathic Pain Conditions

IMS treatment is most effective for ongoing pain where there is no clear sign of tissue damage, or inflammation that would be a source of pain.  Examples include:

  • Neck and Back Pain
  • Headaches
  • Whiplash
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Fibromyalgia

Chronic pain diminishes quality of life and makes everyday activities challenging.  If you are suffering from neuropathic pain, book a consultation at Nordel Physio to see if Intramuscular Stimulation may be the solution for you.
